            Baseball Preview: Fairmont Senior Polar Bears vs. North Marion Huskies        
        
		
        
        
            The Fairmont Senior Polar Bears will head out on the road to  face off against  the North Marion Huskies  at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Fairmont Senior is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4  runs per game  this season.
Fairmont Senior is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of West Virginia's top teams: Robert C. Byrd, who was ranked 17th  at the time (Fairmont Senior was ranked 11th). The Polar Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles  a   4-0 shutout  on Monday. The  victory was nothing new for the Polar Bears as they're now sitting on three straight.
 Brayden Gorby made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases and one  run. Those  two  stolen bases gave  him a new career-high.

 In other batting news,  Blake Straight was  excellent,  going 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases and one  run. Those  two  stolen bases gave  him a new career-high.
 Meanwhile, North Marion earned  a  6-2 win over Lewis County  on Tuesday.
 North Marion is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Fairmont Senior, their record is now 10-2.
 Fairmont Senior came out on top in a nail-biter against North Marion in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024, sneaking past  2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Polar Bears since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
