Baseball Game Preview: North Augusta Yellow Jackets vs. Gilbert Indians

For the first time this season, North Augusta will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Monday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Gilbert Indians at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

North Augusta saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of Beaufort by a score of 5-4.

Simeon Lorier was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, North Augusta saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Caldwell, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Gilbert came up short against May River on Friday and fell 7-4.

North Augusta came out on top in a nail-biter against Gilbert in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Augusta since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
