Baseball Recap: Battle Mountain Takes a Loss

Battle Mountain couldn't beat Sierra Lutheran on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Longhorns fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-3 loss on Saturday.

Keegan Peasnall was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those four hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Peasnall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Lara, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Abel Martin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Battle Mountain has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Sierra Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Battle Mountain didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-6 win against Incline on the 17th. As for Sierra Lutheran, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-0 victory against Virginia City on the 14th.
