Basketball Game Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Illiana Christian Vikings

Munster is a perfect 4-0 against Illiana Christian since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs will be home for the holidays to greet the Vikings at 7:00 p.m.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Munster and Lowell, and Lowell kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Red Devils are ranked 104th).

Munster's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Arroya Mongerie, who posted nine points and eight rebounds, and Amelia Ramirez, who scored ten points. Ramirez is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games she's played. Kenley Smith was another key player, putting up six points.

Illiana Christian fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 52-48 W against Hobart.

Munster now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Illiana Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Munster against Illiana Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 57-21 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
