Basketball Recap: St. Patrick Continues Road Dominance on Friday

St. Patrick waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They snuck past the Benet Academy Redwings with a 53-49 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Shamrocks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Redwings are ranked seventh).

St. Patrick pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Benet Academy, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-3.

St. Patrick has already played their next game (against Rich Township), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Benet Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Laurence at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Laurence knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Benet Academy likes a good challenge.
