Basketball Recap: Balboa Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Winston Salem Christian National

Balboa is ranked highly in their home state and on Monday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Winston Salem Christian National. The Balboa Roughriders took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winston Salem Christian National Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roughriders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-69 back in December of 2024.

Balboa lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Apolo Caetano, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was BwaBwa Josue, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Winston Salem Christian National's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bradley Floyd led the charge by putting up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Pissis, who had 13 points.

Balboa has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Winston Salem Christian National, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Balboa will host Specially Fit Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Balboa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season. As for Winston Salem Christian National, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 90-51 victory against Grind Prep on the 3rd.
