Basketball Recap: Wilcox Skates Past Oak Grove with Ease

Wilcox hadn't done well against Oak Grove recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wilcox Chargers really took it to the Oak Grove Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-40 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-13.

Wilcox's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Slate led the charge by going 5-for-7 en route to 15 points and seven boards. What's more, Slate also posted a 71% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Dylan Camacho was another key player, going 5-for-6 on his way to 11 points.

Wilcox was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was De'Arii Rogers, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 11 points. Rogers is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan McCoy, who posted eight points.

Wilcox's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Oak Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Wilcox has already played their next contest, a 70-68 win against Los Altos on the 18th. As for Oak Grove, they will square off against South San Francisco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
