Recap: Tombstone Yellow Jackets vs. Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Tombstone Yellow Jackets couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were outmatched by Santa Cruz Valley on the road and fell 49-14. Tombstone's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Tombstone's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Malachi Keller and DJ Elias. Keller picked up 131 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Elias threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Keller's longest reception was for an incredible 84 yards.
Santa Cruz Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nathan Harris, who threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. ShonLuis Banda also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Tombstone's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Tombstone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Santa Cruz Valley will head out on the road to face off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scottsdale Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
