Football Recap: Southside Southerners vs. Harrisburg Hornets
Southside won the last time they faced Harrisburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Southerners blew past the Hornets 49-6. The Southerners pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets had no chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen McLaughlin, who rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Trey Allen was in the mix as well, providing the Southerners with two TDs.
Southside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brayden York and Wyatt Bishop. Southside received some extra help from Layton Neal, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Despite the loss, Harrisburg still got an impressive performance from Grayson Harkey, who rushed for 118 yards and one score.
