Football Recap: Southside Skates Past Harrisburg with Ease

Southside won the last time they faced Harrisburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Southerners blew past the Hornets 49-6. The Southerners pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen McLaughlin, who rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Trey Allen was in the mix as well, providing the Southerners with two TDs.

Southside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brayden York and Wyatt Bishop. Southside received some extra help from Layton Neal, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Despite the loss, Harrisburg still got an impressive performance from Grayson Harkey, who rushed for 118 yards and one score.

Southside has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 42.0 points this season. As for Harrisburg, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Southside has already played their next game, a 34-10 win against Batesville on the 12th. As for Harrisburg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 34-18 loss against Trumann on the 12th.
