Basketball Recap: William Luis III's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cypress Creek over Jones

Cypress Creek lost against Jones back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cypress Creek Bears took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jones Fightin' Tigers. The Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was William Luis III, who posted 11 points. Navaris Mora was another key player, putting up ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jones to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenyon Holmes, who put up 30 points. The dominant performance gave Holmes a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquail Smith, who had 18 points.

Cypress Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Jones, they moved to 4-9 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Freedom at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Cypress Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. Jones will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Considering Jones has lost six straight at home (dating back to last season) and Horizon four straight on the road , this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.
