Football Game Preview: Tri-County Academy Rebels vs. Leake Academy Rebels

Tri-County Academy will challenge Leake Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Tri-County Academy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to Central Hinds Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Rebels sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Leake Academy's strategy against Riverfield Academy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rebels blew the Raiders out of the water with a 45-16 final score.

Leake Academy's win came from a few key players Tri-County Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was George Wilcox, who threw for 288 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. He has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played. Gage Warren was Wilcox's top target, picking up 157 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Leake Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Coby Kemp and Brennan Evans. Kemp also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 19.

Tri-County Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Leake Academy, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-1.
