Basketball Game Preview: Sweetwater Wildcats vs. Polk County Wildcats

Having just played yesterday, the Sweetwater Wildcats will get right back to it and host the Polk County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sweetwater will be strutting in after a victory while Polk County will be coming in after a defeat.

Sweetwater will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Midway, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Sweetwater managed a 55-51 win over Midway on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Polk County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The contest between them and Tellico Plains didn't end well, with Polk County falling 64-45. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Bears are ranked 113th).

Polk County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Sweetwater, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12.

Sweetwater skirted past Polk County 35-33 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will Sweetwater repeat their success, or does Polk County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
