Football Recap: Segerstrom Jaguars vs. Esperanza Aztecs

On Thursday, the Segerstrom Jaguars made easy work of the Esperanza Aztecs and carried off a 49-29 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Noah Tagaloa was his usual excellent self, rushing for 144 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also catching a touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jesse Lopez, who threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Segerstrom was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Esperanza only rushed for 42.

Esperanza's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Travis Frazier, who threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Davian Franco was Frazier's top target, picking up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Segerstrom and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Esperanza, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3.
