Basketball Recap: Cowanesque Valley Comes Up Short

Cowanesque Valley fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Williamson on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Williamson Warriors 58-54. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

It was another big night for Jack Nolan, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 17 boards for Williamson. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Nolan has scored at least a third of Williamson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Crance, who posted two points and six rebounds.

Cowanesque Valley is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Williamson, they moved to 1-7 with that victory, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cowanesque Valley will host North Penn-Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Williamson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Potter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
