Baseball Game Preview: Hixson Wildcats vs. McMinn Central Chargers

The Hixson Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the McMinn Central Chargers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

McMinn Central will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Hixson extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on East Ridge with a sharp 15-1 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McMinn Central). They were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over Tellico Plains on Tuesday. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Hixson pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for McMinn Central, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Hixson came up short against McMinn Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
