Soccer Game Preview: Palmer Ridge vs. Cheyenne Mountain

Palmer Ridge hasn't had much luck against Cheyenne Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bears will challenge the Red-Tailed Hawks at 6:30 p.m. Palmer Ridge's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Palmer Ridge is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Air Academy on Thursday. The Bears fell just short of the Kadets by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Palmer Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Air Academy are ranked 16th).

Liam Doyle and Will Dunham scored both of Palmer Ridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Discovery Canyon 2-1. Cheyenne Mountain haven't had any issues with Discovery Canyon recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-4-1. As for Cheyenne Mountain, the win got them back to even at 4-4-2.

Palmer Ridge came up short against Cheyenne Mountain in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
