Basketball Recap: Center Hill Comes Up Short

Center Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 67-55 to the Southaven Chargers. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Leading Southaven to victory were Jodari Morgan and Jayce Scurry. Morgan dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards, while Scurry posted 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Morgan a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Cameron Hammond, who scored 11 points.

Center Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Southaven, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Center Hill will square off against Power Center Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southaven, they will be taking part in a tournament against Oakhaven at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
