Baseball Game Preview: Tulia Hornets vs. Bushland Falcons

Tulia is 0-8 against Bushland since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Tulia Hornets will head out to challenge the Bushland Falcons at 4:30 p.m.

Tulia is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since February 22nd on Monday. They lost 21-9 to Dalhart. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bushland). They blew past Dalhart 20-1 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Elliott Hemphill made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Bushland got a massive performance out of Max Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted over his last nine contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Askins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Bushland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tulia's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4-1. As for Bushland, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 8-9.

Tulia might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Bushland when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Tulia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
