Baseball Game Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Potomac School Panthers

Georgetown Day is 0-10 against Potomac School since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. Georgetown Day will head out to face off against Potomac School at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Georgetown Day made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Grayslake North, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Georgetown Day put the hurt on Grayslake North with a sharp 10-4 victory last Sunday. The Mighty Hoppers not only won last Sunday, but they posted their biggest win since April 13, 2024.

Meanwhile, Potomac School won against Trinity Christian on Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Potomac School blew past Southern Maryland Christian Academy 12-2. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Tony Diller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Will Piester was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Declan Conley also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

With the victory, Georgetown Day broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Potomac School, their record now sits at 3-6.

Georgetown Day suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Potomac School in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Georgetown Day avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
