Basketball Game Preview: Kemp Yellowjackets vs. Van Vandals

The Kemp Yellowjackets will head out to take on the Van Vandals at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Kemp has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 6.

Kemp is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Mabank on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Kemp was outmatched by Mabank and fell 82-22. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1079th, while the Panthers are ranked 128th).

Allie Pringle was Kemp's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Makayla Miller held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Meanwhile, Van was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Lindale, falling 55-9. The contest marked the Vandals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kemp's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Van, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.

Kemp took a serious blow against Van in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 57-29. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Kemp was down 42-11.
