Basketball Recap: Bayfront Charter Triumphs

Bayfront Charter's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Rock Academy Warriors 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sharks have posted since November 15, 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Rock Academy lost, don't look at James Whitley. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 45.2% of Rock Academy's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephon Howell, who put up seven points and three steals.

Bayfront Charter's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Rock Academy, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayfront Charter will square off against The Cambridge School at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Rock Academy, they will face off against Crawford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crawford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season.
