Recap: Treutlen Vikings vs. Montgomery County Eagles
The Treutlen Vikings suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Montgomery County 69-41. Treutlen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-18.
When it comes to explaining why Treutlen lost, one person who can't be blamed is ShaCaria Jackson. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points. That was a full 61% of Treutlen's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Montgomery County had a senior duo take command as Amire Banks dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists and Marley Bell dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. Banks also pulled down eight rebounds for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Adams, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Treutlen's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Montgomery County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Treutlen will head out on the road to take on Jeff Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jeff Davis has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Montgomery County, they will be playing at home against Jenkins County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkins County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while Montgomery County is ranked 66th).
