League recap: League leaders Notre Dame and Oakfield-Alabama to clash this week

On May 14, 2012, the top two teams in the current league standings will go head to head, as Notre Dame and Oakfield-Alabama meet. The Fighting Irish currently hold a 1.00-game lead over the Hornets for first place.

Notre Dame made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from third to first place in the league thanks to a 3-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Pembroke fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fourth all the way to seventh place after going 2-2 in the past week.

The Fighting Irish's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 17 hits and four walks, both of which led the league. Notre Dame's pitchers have been charged with only 42 hits and have struck out 42 batters. Tyler Stroud is tops on the staff with 21 Ks.

The Fighting Irish's Brendan Brown led the league with six hits this week. His 12 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .414 batting average.
