Basketball Game Preview: Fairfax Lions vs. West Springfield Spartans

Fairfax is 1-9 against West Springfield since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fairfax Lions will head out to square off against the West Springfield Spartans at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Fairfax came up short against Alexandria City and fell 52-40.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Springfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They strolled past Lake Braddock with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 54-37. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Bruins are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Springfield is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Fairfax, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Fairfax lost to West Springfield on the road by a decisive 43-28 margin when the teams last played last Saturday. Can Fairfax avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
