Basketball Recap: Saranac Spartans vs. Massena Raiders        
        
		
             Saranac was handed a 25-point  defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Massena on Saturday. The Saranac Spartans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Massena Raiders , sneaking past  55-52. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered  a  70-40  loss the last time these two teams met.
 Leading Saranac to victory were  Henry Napper and  Carson Duffield.  Napper  scored 18 points in addition to six  rebounds, while  Duffield  dropped  a double-double on 14 points and ten  rebounds. The dominant performance also gave  Duffield a new career-high in  assists (six).  Zack Lucia was another key player,  earning six points in addition to two  steals.
 Saranac was working as a unit and  finished the game with 18  assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Massena only racked up eight.
 Despite the loss, Massena still got an impressive performance from   Taylor Mitchell, who  posted 14 points plus six  assists and six  steals. Another player making a difference was  Tapeni Labrake, who  earned ten points along with five  rebounds and three  steals.
 The  victory  got Saranac back to even at 1-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saranac will challenge Saranac Lake at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Massena, they are headed away from home for the first time to  face off against  Ogdensburg Free Academy  at 7:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
