Recap: Boles Hornets vs. Celeste Blue Devils
The Boles Hornets pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Celeste by a score of 61-59. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Boles in their matchups with Celeste: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Boles lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jonathan Cruthird. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Cruthird's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kole Lively, who scored three points along with eight assists and three steals.
Boles' defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Celeste, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boles will take on North Hopkins at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Hopkins presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Boles in Texas (North Hopkins is ranked 359th, while Boles is ranked 834th). Celeste won't have much time to rest: their next game is against McLeod at 2:20 p.m. on December 29, 2023. McLeod will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
