Softball Recap: Rancho Mirage Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Rancho Mirage dropped their record down to 14-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 19-1 to the Shadow Hills Knights. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Rattlers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Rancho Mirage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilian Rocha, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Shadow Hills, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by ten runs or more this season.

On Shadow Hills' side, Karla Cerda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cerda has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

In other pitching news, Ava Valenzuela looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Samantha Beltran, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March. Amariz Rodriguez was another key player, earning one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Rancho Mirage nor Shadow Hills have any future games scheduled.
