Basketball Game Preview: Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats vs. Pierce Bluejays

The Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats will take on the Pierce Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Pierce has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] duked it out withBoone Central on Tuesday. Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boone Central. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bobcats came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Cardinals are ranked 102nd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Michael Koenig, who posted 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Sam Cheatum was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Meanwhile, Pierce played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 81-49 loss at the hands of Norfolk Catholic. The Bluejays were down 63-38 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s defeat ended a 15-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-1. As for Pierce, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
