Volleyball Game Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. Hillcrest Huskies

The Kearns Cougars will head out to challenge the Hillcrest Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kearns is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kearns took on West on Tuesday. The Cougars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

While Kearns had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, 25-22.

Despite their loss, Kearns saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kiera Burgess, who had nine aces and three digs, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, Hillcrest got the win against Granger on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

Hillcrest's got stronger as the match went on, holding Granger to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-20, 25-5.

Hillcrest now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Kearns, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Kearns couldn't quite get it done against Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
