Soccer Game Preview: Homewood-Flossmoor vs. Stagg

Homewood-Flossmoor is 2-7 against Stagg since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Vikings will square off against the Chargers at 11:30 a.m.

Homewood-Flossmoor is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Lincoln-Way Central on Wednesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, Homewood-Flossmoor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Lincoln-Way Central are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Stagg kept a clean sheet against Andrew on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Thunderbolts with a sharp 3-0 win. The result was nothing new for Stagg, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Stagg has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matches. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-2.

Homewood-Flossmoor might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Stagg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
