Game recap: Allentown bests Hopewell Valley Central thanks to fourth quarter score

Allentown (N.J.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 19-7 victory over Hopewell Valley Central (Pennington, N.J.) on Saturday. The Redbirds captured the lead for good when Norman Williams ran for a touchdown.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Austin Fellows to Aaron Gewecke, the Bulldogs went into halftime with a 7-0 lead. The Redbirds scored the winning points with a Williams touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.

Despite scoring zero points in the third, Allentown still trailed by 7 points going into the fourth quarter. But 19 points in the fourth helped AHS pull out the victory.

Nick Palladino stood out for the Redbirds in the win. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown.

Fellows played well for Hopewell Valley Central. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown.

HVC's lone touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from Fellows to Gewecke in the second quarter.



When the two teams played each other last season, Allentown came away with a 30-6 victory.

With the win AHS extended its winning streak to four games.

Allentown (4-0) goes up against Trenton Central in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Hopewell Valley Central (2-2) locks horns with Notre Dame also in a non-conference game.
