Softball Game Preview: Nevada Cubs vs. Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs

The Nevada Cubs will take on the Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Nevada is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Greene County on Friday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 13-1. Cubs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Friday.

Meanwhile, Prairie City-Monroe strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Grand View Christian 11-4. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Prairie City-Monroe pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Nevada, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Nevada might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Prairie City-Monroe in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Cubs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
