Softball Recap: Columbus North Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Columbus North had won three straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped their record up to 8-9 to make it four. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Jennings County Panthers. This was payback for the Bull Dogs, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Bailee Scruggs made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley McClellan, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgan Jarvis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Jennings County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

On Jennings County's side, Arian Day spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Jennings County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Hack, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Columbus North has already played their next matchup, a 7-4 defeat against Brownstown Central on the 12th. As for Jennings County, they will take on Madison at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
