Softball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

If Mountain View was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Woods Cross last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins fell 9-6 to the Lone Peak Knights on Monday. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Maisy Odell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Saralynn Hair was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Lucy Clark was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Lone Peak, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will venture away from home to face off against Uintah at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lone Peak, they will square off against American Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavemen have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
