Preview: Limon Badgers vs. Meeker Cowboys
Limon is 7-0 against Meeker since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Limon Badgers will square off against the Meeker Cowboys at 1:00 p.m. Limon is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Limon had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Banning Lewis Academy with a sharp 41-18 victory on Saturday. Considering Limon has won ten contests by more than 20 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Limon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keon Bandy, who rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Lohgan Bottjer and his 95 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Limon's victory.
Meanwhile, Meeker can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over Buena Vista. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Meeker's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Clay Crawford, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown, and Cade Blunt, who rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns.
Limon's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Strasburg and 9-2 Monte Vista (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.6% over those games). As for Meeker, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's game: Limon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 287.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Meeker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 190.9 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
