Preview: Chittenango Bears vs. Homer Trojans
Chittenango is 8-2 against Homer since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Chittenango Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Homer Trojans at 6:45 p.m. One thing working in Chittenango's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 matchups.
Chittenango pushed their score all the way to 77 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 84-77 to Westhill.
Despite the loss, Chittenango got a solid performance out of Ryan Moesch, who scored 46 points. That was a full 59.7% of Chittenango's points, marking the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brendon Barnard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Homer, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-44 loss to Skaneateles two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, Homer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Skaneateles is ranked 165th).
Chittenango's record is now 9-5. Homer's record is now 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Chittenango against Homer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 68-38 victory. With Chittenango ahead 43-19 at the half, the match was all but over already.
