Softball Recap: Coahoma Takes Down Childress in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Coahoma rose to the challenge on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Childress Bobcats a 7-0 shutout. The Bulldogs' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Hannah Wells was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Mia Clemmer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kaedyn Lee, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Coahoma lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.

Coahoma's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Childress, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-12-1.

Coming up, Coahoma will square off against Henrietta on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 0.7, the Bearcats 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Childress does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
