Baseball Recap: Monroe Dragons vs. Santiam Christian Eagles
Monroe extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 12-7 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Santiam Christian Eagles. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Dragons haven't been shut out since back in March.
As for Santiam Christian, they moved to 20-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Considering they have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Santiam Christian's part, Landon VanLeuven and Josh Riddle made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, VanLeuven pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Riddle tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, VanLeuven went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run, while Riddle went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave VanLeuven a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jakob Modin was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
