Basketball Recap: Wagoner Takes a Loss

Wagoner was the 43-35 winner over Locust Grove when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wagoner Bulldogs were dealt a 69-35 loss at the hands of the Locust Grove Pirates on Friday. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-11.

Claire Hooker was her usual excellent self, going 10 of 18 en route to 26 points and five steals for Locust Grove. Hooker's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Bond, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Wagoner and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Locust Grove, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Wagoner and Locust Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. Wagoner (ranked 123rd) will meet Miami (ranked 359th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Locust Grove will take on Skiatook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 102 places (26 vs. 128).
