Bingham is 9-1 against Herriman since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Miners will host the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. The last three games Bingham has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Bingham is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked fifth at the time (Bingham was ranked seventh). The Miners fell just short of the Sentinels by a score of 7-6 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kam Beck was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Orullian, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Herriman won against Copper Hills on Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 9-5. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Grizzlies on their field since April 18, 2023.
Mason Greeno tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Herriman is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-11 otherwise.
At the plate, Kayson Thomas was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Ryker Renteria was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Herriman's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12. As for Bingham, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.
Bingham was able to grind out a solid win over Herriman in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. Will the Miners repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
