Volleyball Recap: Sturgis West Takes a Loss

If Sturgis West was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Rising Tide on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Navigators came up short against the Nauset Regional Warriors on Friday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on September 5th.

Sturgis West was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-22, 25-20.

Noelani Kittila paced Sturgis West's offense, picking up 11 kills. Kittila got some help from Sage Hampton and her 15 assists. Hampton also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Zori Stoyanova, each putting up two.

Sturgis West's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Nauset Regional, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Sturgis West has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Calvary Chapel Academy on the 2nd. As for Nauset Regional, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Cape Cod RVT on the 29th.
