Volleyball Game Preview: Pike Red Devils vs. Decatur Central Hawks

The Pike Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Decatur Central Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pike will be strutting in after a victory while Decatur Central will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Pike beat Bloomington South 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Pike walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Decatur Central came up short against Martinsville on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-27, 26-24, 25-10.

Despite the defeat, Decatur Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Esteban Martinez had 21 digs and two assists. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Martinez. Tait Owens also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

Decatur Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Pike, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
