Baseball Recap: South Portland Drops Season-High Score on Portland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Portland). They blew past the Portland Bulldogs 12-2 on Tuesday. The Red Riots have beaten the Bulldogs the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Hudson Iacuessa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Ben Morin looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Corbin Voisine was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Healy, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

South Portland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

South Portland's record is now 8-4. As for Portland, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.
