Basketball Recap: Millersport Takes a Loss

Millersport won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Maysville Panthers and fell 67-31.

Despite the loss, Millersport saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lilly Atkinson went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points. That was a full 45.2% of Millersport's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Wright, who had four points and five rebounds.

Millersport's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Maysville, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Millersport will square off against Fairfield Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 28.3 points per game this season, so Millersport's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Maysville, they will challenge Morgan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
