Basketball Recap: St. David's Finds Playoff Glory Versus Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill

St. David had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 35-20 win over the Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill Lion on Tuesday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Lion are ranked 495th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eliza Everett was the offensive standout of the game as she posted four points in addition to 15 boards and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Driggers, who had seven points and three steals.

St. David's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill only pulled down one offensive rebound.

Despite the loss, Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill saw an underclassman step up: freshman Allie McIntosh went 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds.

St. David's is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points over those games. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.

As of now, neither St. David's nor Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill have any future games scheduled.
