Preview: Mandeville Skippers vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons

The Mandeville Skippers will head out on the road to square off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mandeville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Mandeville can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on St. Scholastica with a sharp 65-39 win. Given Mandeville's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while St. Scholastica is ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mandeville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alanna Benoit out in front who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Benoit hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Carter, who scored 15 points along with nine steals and five assists.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas beat Archbishop Hannan 47-37 last Saturday.

Mandeville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Mandeville strolled past St. Thomas Aquinas in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 61-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mandeville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
