Recap: Lovett Lions vs. Midtown Knights
The Lovett Lions pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Midtown by a score of 66-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lovett came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Midtown is ranked 415th).
Despite the defeat, Lovett saw an underclassman step up: Kingston Whitty scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Whitty's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Cain, who scored nine points.
Lovett bumped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Midtown, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovett won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Hall at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. One thing working in North Hall's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. Midtown won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m. on December 16th.
