Basketball Recap: Myrtle Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Myrtle can now relate to. They were dealt a 63-29 loss at the hands of the Okolona Chieftains on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Chieftains are ranked 55th).

Myrtle's defeat dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Okolona, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season.

Myrtle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Okolona, they will take on Biggersville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Okolona knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Biggersville likes a good challenge.
