Preview: Papillion-LaVista South Titans vs. Omaha Central Eagles
The Papillion-LaVista South Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Omaha Central Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Papillion-LaVista South will be looking to keep their 14-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Papillion-LaVista South suffered their closest loss yet this season two weeks ago. They fell just short of Omaha North by a score of 62-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The losing side was boosted by Bryson Bahl, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Frost, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Papillion-LaVista South were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha North only racked up eight assists.
Meanwhile, even though Elkhorn South scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Omaha Central still came out on top. Omaha Central secured a 65-60 W over Elkhorn South. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Omaha Central.
Omaha Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devin Holmon led the charge by scoring 16 points. DaShawn Prince was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Papillion-LaVista South's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Omaha Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Papillion-LaVista South came up short against Omaha Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 58-50. Thankfully for Papillion-LaVista South, Awit Mamer (who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
