Recap: Philip Simmons Iron Horses vs. Waccamaw Warriors

There's no place like home for the Philip Simmons Iron Horses, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Waccamaw 55-34. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Philip Simmons also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.

Philip Simmons had a senior duo take command as Micah Mack scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals and Robert Watson scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Watson has scored at least 25% of Philip Simmons' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlio Jenkins, who scored 12 points.

Waccamaw's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Connor Hart and Tyrese Haynes. Hart scored 6 points, while Haynes scored 3 points. Haynes is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Philip Simmons' win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Waccamaw, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Philip Simmons will take on Wando at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Wando will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Philip Simmons is ranked 40th). As for Waccamaw, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ragin Prep Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ragin Prep Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Waccamaw likes a good challenge.
